How it all started...
2010: VerdraaidGoed
In 2010, VerdraaidGoed started designing with the aim of preserving the value of materials and closing cycles. Using waste and residual materials as raw materials for new products and giving them a second life in the form of new, iconic products.
One of those waste streams was coffee. From this, Coffee Based emerged. Such a large waste stream with so much potential deserves its own company!

Beat the Bag reduces the use of plastic bags and gives promotional material a renewed life. By upcycling advertising banners for companies into reusable bags, we help the circular economy in further its way the Netherlands. These sustainable and high-quality bags are sewn with great love and care in social workshops. With Beat the Bag, we bolster social inclusiveness and provide local employment.
100% sustainable, 100% social and 100% local.

2017: Coffee Based
In the Netherlands, over 100 million kilos of coffee grounds are produced each year. Much of it ends up in waste incineration, which is a shame! Coffee Based ensures this material is put to better use by creating biobased products from this waste. We don't see coffee grounds as waste, but as a valuable resource!

2020: Coffee Recycle Service
To reduce the mountain of coffee grounds waste and ensure that we can continue to enjoy coffee responsibly 20 years from now, we have joined forces with Maas and PreZero to develop the Coffee Recycling Service. The coffee grounds we collect together no longer go to waste incineration but are used as a raw material instead. The best part is that the companies from which we collect the coffee grounds receive a portion back in the form of products like soap, plant pots, or coffee cups made from coffee grounds.

To reduce the mountain of coffee ground waste and to ensure that we can still drink coffee responsibly 20 years' from now, we have joined forces with Maas and PreZero. Together we have developed the Coffee Recycle Service.
The coffee grounds that we collect together, no longer go to waste incineration, but are used as a valuable raw material.
A great aspect of this is, the companies where we collect the coffee receive part of the coffee grounds back in the form of products like soaps, plant pots or coffee cups made of coffee grounds.
